Steve until recently still owned all 3 Arredondos, the 70s Jmp were in need of servicing after a long hibernation and sent to Friedman for servicing (the one in Pete Thorn video is the one that had to be re cased so probably came straight from the EEAS tour rack), the custom JCM800 Arredondo actually STILL used regularly and prominently displayed right behind Steve on several videos he did. The custom JCM800 Arredondo (the only one plugged in Soldano(?) rackmount, probably for effects (Wet side) Skyscraper: unclear, no photos have surfaced but most likely the custom JCM800 Arredondo possibly the custom JCM 800 Arredondo Marshall again ( for sure during the tour as there are pics of it)ĮEAS: he rackmounted the 70s Arredondo and Lee Jackson, there is one photo floating around showing it the Carvin amp ( the thinner tones are this one ) the custom JCM 800 Arredondo Marshall again Mostly the 2x JMP Arredondo Marshalls ( there is a video on youtube during the recording process shot by Coverdale) (it has a less chewy sound, much harder sound, in your face and more direct attack, for clean execution of ultra fast runs)
The same 3 Arredondo Marshalls, but the custom JCM 800 is the dominant one. I love his tone on EEAS, Skyscraper, and Passion and Warfare, so I've done a lot of research on it, here is what transpires (this is my own research, opinions may differ but most came from studying Steve's own words and lots of pics and videos):Ģx 70s Jmp -the ones from the youtube Pete Thorn / Dave Friedman videoġx brand new JCM800 custom voiced by Jose for Vai -they actually were 2 of those, but one was stolen early on during rehearsals and may not have been recorded with)
